Now that you have a basic idea of Romanian history, the fast-growing Romanian economy, and the extremely vibrant and diverse Romanian media, you know more about the country than an average non-Romanian (except for a select few). So if you’ve never been to Romania, why not visit the new “land of opportunity” of Eastern Europe? Are you a fan of the mountains? Do you like snow, skiing, and other winter sports? The breathtakingly beautiful Carpathian mountains (where the famous castle of Dracula is located) will not disappoint. There are many well-developed resorts in the Carpathians that deliver all the modern amenities to cater to your needs. And if you’re more of an austere outdoors man, there are also more humble and environmentally-friendly accommodations available.
Or perhaps you prefer relaxing at the beach with friends, going to exquisite clubs at night, and enjoying all the luxury that Black Sea resorts offers, with a very tourist-friendly atmosphere, great restaurants, luxurious accommodations, and of course, the Black Sea itself.
Maybe you just want to travel around Transylvania, with its ethnically-diverse people, rich and complicated history, and beautiful medieval villages and towns. Sibiu, the European Capital of Culture in 2007, is definitely worth a visit, as are Brasov, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, and many other smaller and less well-known places. Whatever your particular needs and wants as a visitor, Romania has something to offer.
